Track: Turf, right handed.

Track Bias: The 1600m start is in a long chute onto the back straight and gives all runners a chance to take up a position in the long run to the first and only corner. When the field hits the straight they have a 400m sprint to the winning post and fast sectionals usually help those horses running on pace and up to the pressure to pass the leaders. 

History: First run in 1991 it was over 1400m and known as Hong Kong International Bowl, upgraded to 1600m in 1999 and then given Group 1 status in 2000. Jim And Tonic won in 1998 (at 1400m) and went on to win the Hong Kong Cup in 1999, Sunline won in 2000 coming of her 2^nd Cox Plate win and 4 other Group 1’s in distances from 1200m to 2040m.
