Track Bias:The Cox Plate start begins in the home straight in front of the grandstand, about 200m ahead of the winning post. There is a short run before the first turn, an inside barrier assists in gaining a good position early. Runners must make their bid for the lead before the home turn or wait for a lucky run wide or on the inside fence in the home straight.
History: Australia's premier Weight For Age event, a true test of quality scheduled one week before the start of Melbourne Cup week at Flemington. Form analysis: Ideal racing position at this track is just behind the leaders, one off the fence.
